The sky was so beautiful that night but the winds never stopped howling..... At points the wind would blow so hard the top of the tent would bend over and smack my face.  We even used a vehicle as a wind block!  I didn't get much sleep that night.  But the trip was a great!

Little Santa Anita Canyon used to be one of Southern California's best canyons.  But due to continual drought and a fire the canyon's topography has changed.  In this photo Dave Smith enjoys his free shower.

I love being outdoors and getting away from everything but sometimes I get the chance to enjoy some great man made things.  Like this Dodge Viper SRT10 what a day!

The Achilles saga

Here are few camera phone shots of my foot.  Starting from the top left to right and finishing with the after surgery cast from yesterday.  I can honestly say that I did not have very much pain leading up to the surgery.  Even the actual rupture did not hurt much at all.  And with the exception of a little early morning pain or the oops I shouldn't have put weight on that foot pain I was good.  However now that the surgery is finished I have pain, I guess healing does hurt hahaha.

West Quartz Creek

Darren Jeffrey enjoying West Quartz Creek on a free hanging rappel.
Well here is the first of many blog posting to come.  All it took to get me to sit down and set it all up was a trip to play basketball.  Two weeks ago I stepped on the basketball court for a few pick up games and by the end of the first game I was being helped to the side line with what was later to be diagnosed as a fully ruptured Achilles tendon.  Surgery is now only two days away and I can’t wait to get back on two feet instead of one. Check back later I plan on sharing photos on a regular basis until I'm back out there shooting again.....
